"Centralize the steering of credit, decentralize who receives it." I get lost here. If the decision-makers on credit still have the centralized power to pick winners and losers, how is that a decentralized benefit and different from finance as it stands now? What's the 'centralized' mechanism that truly opens credit to Main Street? And how do you stop the giant companies from crushing any new ones getting that credit without first lessening their abilities?

It can be confusing, but there is a big difference. Regarless of outcome, at the start there will always be power structures that decide regardless of if you are in a "free society" or under "state rule".

However, the difference is are you picking winners and losers type of centralization - strictly state rule. Or a more free version is - this is the strategy that we believe the future will be around and capital needs to go here (are you Bill Belichick or George Seifert). Both create incentives for private capital, investors, and allocators to focus on these industries but who gets to participate matters. The current AI, One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) seem to allow more participants and piggy back on the former CHIPs Act, etc.

If after the direction of capital you end up with three players, then yes, you are in a communist version of "democracy". If after the direction of capital you have more nodes in the system, more players in the system, more ways for people to be business owners or take part in the wealth created by the growth, then you are in a democratic system (see Alexander Hamilton's plan).

As Michael Every points out, the US sits now where Russia set during Russia's Perestroika under Grobachev. They were too centralized and not enough consumption. The US is too much consumption and not enough centralization. So in short, we need a reverse-perestroika, but the real issue is there is a need for restructuring (Werner).

Every financial system always has a point of centralization. What makes it follow a communist or free regime after, in my mind, depends soley on how many people benefit and participate along the way. Fewer = communist / centralization. More = democtratic / centralization. Capital formation in and of itself is centralized. What do with it and how you spread it around dictates the final result.
